Mir payment system is the Russian national payment system. Mir payment system started operating in December 2015 when the first Mir cards were issued.
More than 130 banks have already become the members of Mir payment system, some of them have started to release Mir national payment cards and to connect their terminals and cash machines to accept them. It is planned that Mir cards will be widely circulated not only in Russia but also abroad. Co-badged cards with international payment systems, Mir-Maestro and Mir-JCB, are already being issued.
